FYI—I shared my revelation about this whole experience with Geoffrey as soon as we got home last night and he was like, “that’s exactly what I was trying to do!”

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. With 3 moves in 2 years, traveling back and forth between two homes—it’s been a lot. But as we’ve (started) to get settled, I’ve been praying about how to return to this space. I so often remember the verse, “tell of his faithfulness” …and while there is so much that could be said of these last months…this short slideshow of pictures from the month of October seemed a good way to begin.
1. In June we memorized Ps 126. At the same time, the Lord put it in our heart to pray about purchasing this old house in the hood to use for church gatherings. We didn’t know how it was possible, but somehow as we prayed, the Lord strengthened our faith. One morning as we read this Psalm, the kids felt we should draw a picture of the house for verse 3, “the Lord has done great things for us, we are glad” We drew this picture on our memory board in faith—it stayed for the next three months.
2. After a diligent season of prayer, and of hearing the Lord clearer than I have in a very long time, He answered about 15 to 20 very specific prayers and opened the way to buy this house in the hood. Maybe someday I will share the story. But it was a miracle of God. We moved in this month.
3. Cleaning the house in the country that the Lord allowed us to stay in for two years while we traveled back and forth between Richmond. With 30 acres of woods, my boys found themselves here
4. A quick trip to an 🍎 orchard after a blessed conference in NJ
5. A tree from path behind our old house. Several months ago, this was just a stump. Yet in the Lord’s design, even written into creation—what can stop His life? “Even the darkness is not dark to him”
6. LIfewise!! Geoffrey and I were hired as teachers with the privilege to teach 140+ unchurched kids about the Lord this fall. Still amazed at this opportunity
7. Evening shenanigans. Love these guys
8. What can you do with 🧻? My youngest has been perfecting his TP rope—this one can hold him.
9. The beginnings of a sound studio; hoping to resurrect the @booksandparchments podcast soon
10. When you’re driving and the kids ask to listen to the Bible on @streetlightsbible, you 📸 the moment to remember. Because 🙌

We’ve spent a lot of time serving in the #church

We’ve spent a lot of time serving in the #church… this #prayer has comforted me a million times over as we’ve brought our kids from here to there and everywhere, as we’ve opened our home to visitors for the thousandth time, as I’ve told them for the 100th time that Daddy can’t come tonight because he’s meeting with someone.

Our family has been blessed beyond belief, and the Lord has always been faithful and good to provide time and special seasons together. But Amidst busy days or trying times, it’s been comforting to remember that Moses the servant of God was also a father, whose children grew up to serve faithfully in God’s house.

If you have laid down your life in any way to serve his people, while still concerned for your children, May this be an encouragement to you as well.
May the Lord reveal himself to our children.
May they too, see his Majesty.

Friends, he is what the world needs. No matter how comfortable we feel with sharing the gospel… For his sake, and for the sake of those we love, and because we know his good news really is good news that is powerful to change a life … Will you begin to do this good good work telling others about Jesus? Create your own tract, purchase some Gospel of John to leave around at restaurants and with cashiers. Begin those awkward conversations. That the name of Jesus would be lifted high

Guys! It’s a family photo that’s *not* a selfi

Guys! It’s a family photo that’s *not* a selfie. I don’t think this has happened since our pajama photo last year (and uh, it was a pajama photo).

It’s been a crazy month—pretty sure we haven’t slept in the same place for more than two or three nights this entire month.

“Lord, are you trying to teach us something? About being pilgrims? About a heavenly home?”

So many things storing up in my heart that I’d love to share in these squares and over at @writethewordonmyheart in future days…. But also learning it’s okay to not share. It’s okay to wait and tend to these faces before me first. It’s okay to live hidden, unseen lives and do hidden, unseen things. It’s okay to serve or share or have a wonderful moment with the Lord that only you and he know about.

To have “as our ambition [only] …to be pleasing to him” (Eph 5:10)

So I’ve been a little quieter here this past year. I’ve written a little less. Perhaps gotten broken a little more. Less ambitious for the things of this world. Hopefully more useful to him.

If the Lord wills, and our life slows a little, I hope to return to these squares and share a little more in the coming year. To “pass along the things I’ve learned by grace,”

But as he leads and time provides.

Happy almost new-year, friends.

What a crazy, beautiful, wonderful (and yes, sometimes hard) thing it is to be the Lords. To be on this adventure with him. To have moments to ponder his birth and his death and the reality of it all. The amazement of it all. Sometimes these squares make him seem so small. Or makes us feel we need to go out and “do” something for him. But just look at the stars. Behold him in his word. Or take a moment away from here to be still and consider—the maker of heaven and earth… is our keeper, our helper, our friend, our advocate, our everything. Yes, how often I am aware of my unworthiness. But friends—how truly, wonderfully privileged we are to be His!

We hear a lot about “hard” from #christianmoms

We hear a lot about “hard” from #christianmoms and especially #homeschool moms … but there a glory in there too, mommas. In delighting in him. In delighting in our children. In delighting in his will, and the life he’s arranged for us.

The older I get, the more I appreciate these simple, fleeting days that I get to spend with my little guys.

Not all our days look like this—but when they do, I just realize all over again why we #homeschool and am so thankful
